Lesley graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Kinesiology in 2008. She then completed her Doctor of Chiropractic from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2012 with Cum Laude designation.

HEATHER CONLIN Registered Physiotherapist

Heather graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology, with a special focus in Exercise Science. She then completed a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University in 2014.

Heather’s interest in pelvic floor therapy began as a student when she was lucky enough to have exposure to this growing field. After having her first child in 2018, Heather’s curiosity in pelvic health was once again sparked and she enrolled in her first course, and then another, and another. Heather passionately believes that understanding this area of the body is empowering to all patients. She guides her patients during their assessment and treatment session to understand and access the tools they need to reach their goals in whatever way they are most comfortable.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy that focuses on rehabilitation of the muscles that make up the pelvic floor. At different stages of life, after injury or trauma, there can be changes to these muscles that impact the way we feel and the function of the pelvic organs. Pelvic floor physiotherapists are trained to treat these muscles and can guide you through rehabilitation.

Some of the conditions commonly addressed in pelvic floor physiotherapy are:

  • History - of the complaint and general health
  • Physical Examination

You may be asked to change into a gown so your therapist can perform some of these tests:

  • Blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate
  • Neurological Testing (reflexes, strength and sensation)
  • Posture and movement assessment
  • Palpation of the spine, extremities, muscles and joints

An initial assessment with your therapist will take approximately an hour. Within that time, they will make sure that you understand the injury and will explain the treatment plan that will help you become pain free and get you moving better.
